Planning a wedding is no small feat! You need a wedding planning checklist. With so many details to arrange planning a wedding can be quite overwhelming. So we’ve comprised a month-by-month to help make the task a little less stressful.
Wedding plan checklist for 18 – 9 months before:
- Start a wedding folder or binder
- Work out your budget – including family contributions
- Meet with the photographer
- Pick your wedding party
- Start a guest list
- Search out venues & book a date
- Book your celebrant or officiant
- Research photographers, bands, florist and caterers
- Meet with & book the photographer / videographer
- Book the entertainment/DJ
- Purchase the Bridal Gown
8 months before:
Wedding plan checklist
- Book & meet with the caterer
- Purchase the Bridal Gown
- Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out-of-town-guests (if applicable)
- Organise your gift register
- Send out “save the date” cards/emails
- Plan decorations for the Ceremony (if applicable)
- Plan reception decorations
- Book dancing lessons
6 months before:

- Select/purchase invitations
- Start planning a honeymoon
- Shop for the bridesmaids dresses
- Meet with the officiant
- Book a florist
- Book the cars
- Organise your gift register
- Start composing timelines for the big day
- Schedule your hair and makeup artisits and book in for a trial
- Organise suits
4 months before:

- Order your wedding rings
- Book the rehersal
- Select and order the cake
- Organise your Bridal Shower
- Purchase your shoes and accessories
- Choose your music
3 months before:
Wedding planning checklist
- Finalise the menu and flowers
- Order favours – if desired
- Organise an MC and running notes
- Finalise readings & program
- Finalise order of ceremony and reception
- Send out invitations
- Organise Marriage Licence
2 months before:
- Touch base with all the vendors
- Review playlist with the band or DJ
- Visit dressmaker for fitting
- Print menu cards & programs
- Book any spa/ treatments for week of wedding
1 month before:
- Enter RSVP’s into your guest-list database
- Confirm times for hair/makeup
- Assign seating
- Purchase bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts
- Write vows
- Book hair cuts
- Pick up dress
Wedding plan checklist for the week of the wedding:
- Confirm arrival times with vendors
- Delegate small wedding-day tasks
- Send a timeline to the bridal party
- Final check in with photographer
- Send caterer the final guest numbers
- Pack for honeymoon
