At DDS Diamond Design Studios, we design and manufacture custom engagement rings through our studio in Burnside, Adelaide. Choose from our extensive collection or work with us to create an individual ring around your preferred diamond, gemstone, precious metal and design.

DDS Diamond Design Studios is an award-winning, second-generation family manufacturing jeweller based in Burnside, Adelaide.
Our family’s jewellery-making experience spans more than 65 years and began with Swiss master jeweller Bruno Moser. Today, DDS combines traditional jewellery-making knowledge with contemporary design and manufacturing technology to create engagement rings and fine jewellery for clients across Adelaide and Australia.

This is particularly valuable with a custom engagement ring. We can consider not only how the ring looks, but how it is constructed, how securely the diamond is set, how it will wear and how a future wedding ring can sit alongside it.
Two diamonds with apparently similar colour, clarity and carat grades can appear noticeably different when viewed side by side. Cut proportions, dimensions, light performance and the individual character of the stone can all influence its appearance.

We can source certified natural and laboratory-grown diamonds across a wide range of sizes, shapes and qualities. Our aim is not simply to sell a particular grade. It is to help you find the right balance of beauty, quality, size and value for the ring you want to create.
Don’t choose a diamond from the certificate alone. Two diamonds with very similar grades can look surprisingly different. The certificate gives us important information, but I still want to assess the actual stone, its proportions and how it performs visually before deciding whether it represents good value.
DDS Diamond Design Studios
The classic choice for maximum brilliance. A well-cut round brilliant diamond is designed to return a high level of light and works beautifully in solitaire, halo, three-stone and diamond-set designs.

Oval diamonds combine brilliance with an elongated profile that can create excellent visual coverage across the finger. Proportions vary considerably between oval diamonds, so length-to-width ratio and the visibility of the bow-tie effect should be considered when selecting the stone.

Emerald-cut diamonds have long step-cut facets and a sophisticated, architectural appearance. Rather than the intense sparkle of a brilliant cut, they produce broad flashes of light. Clarity and proportion can be particularly important with this shape.

Combining a rounded end with a tapered point, the pear shape creates an elegant and distinctive centre stone. Orientation, symmetry and proportions can dramatically change the appearance of a pear-shaped engagement ring.

The princess cut combines a square profile with brilliant-style faceting. Its strong geometric shape works particularly well in contemporary designs and rings incorporating additional diamonds.

For something less conventional, DDS can source radiant, Asscher and unusual fancy-cut diamonds and create the engagement ring around the individual stone.

Natural diamonds formed within the Earth over immense geological periods and have traditionally been chosen for fine jewellery because of their rarity, beauty and enduring appeal.
Laboratory-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical and optical characteristics as natural diamonds but are created in controlled conditions. They can offer considerably more size for a given budget, although their market characteristics and resale values differ from natural diamonds.
Rich and traditional, yellow gold creates a beautiful contrast against a white diamond and has returned strongly in contemporary engagement-ring design.
White gold provides a bright, contemporary appearance that complements diamonds particularly well. White gold jewellery is generally rhodium plated to produce its crisp white finish and may require replating periodically as it is worn.
Rose gold has a warmer pink tone created by its alloy composition. It works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary jewellery and can create a softer contrast with diamonds and coloured gemstones.
Platinum is naturally white, dense and highly suited to fine jewellery and diamond settings. It does not require rhodium plating and is an excellent option for customers who prefer a naturally white precious metal.
